From Corplab to ALS Life Sciences
The origin of ALS dates back to 1994, with Corplab, a family business under the name of Mercotec, starting to provide environmental pollution analysis services to industries in the Province of Buenos Aires. In 1998, it became the first laboratory certified by the ISO 9001 standard in the country, opening the doors to large companies and environmental projects on a national level. In 2000, the first Mercotec strategic plan was presented, an impulse to work with foreign markets. At that time, the company changed its name to Corporación de Laboratorios Ambientales de América Latina (Corplab).
From that moment on, the rapid growth and success were positioning Corplab as the leader in the industrial segment in Latin America. In 2005, a laboratory was inaugurated in the city of São Paulo and, a year later, it acquired a laboratory in the city of Lauro de Freitas, Bahia. The coverage of the services of our laboratories in Brazil has increased fivefold in recent years to meet the growth of the Brazilian market. This year, aligned to the One ALS campaign, the company’s corporate name in Brazil was changed from Corplab Environmental Analytical Services to ALS Environmental.
From TECAM Laboratories to ALS Life Sciences
To meet the demand brought by the regulation of agrochemicals in Brazil in the 1990s, specialists in the areas of toxicology and ecotoxicology founded TECAM Laboratories in 1992 and in 2007 ALS acquired TECAM Laboratories. Founded in 1992, TECAM Laboratories offers biological tests and chemical analyses accredited to ISO 17025 applicable to food, water, cosmetics and other chemical products. For the safety evaluation of products, it offers studies accredited in “Good Laboratory Practices” (GLP) in the areas of ecotoxicology in terrestrial and aquatic organisms, mammalian toxicology, mutagenicity, physicochemistry, analytical chemistry and cell culture.
Tecam’s headquarters is installed in a modern building located at Rua Fábia nº 59, in the west zone of São Paulo with about 1,500 m2 of built area, in which several laboratories are installed, besides the quality, commercial and administrative sectors, also in the west zone has another unit at Rua Cláudio, where biological analyses are performed.
